FAQs

At The Digital Accountant, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of digital accounting solutions tailored to meet the modern financial needs of businesses. Our expertise encompasses a variety of services, including streamlined payroll management, efficient VAT return processing, meticulous managed bookkeeping, strategic accounts management, accurate tax return filing, and professional invoicing services. Our aim is to make the world of finance a better place by offering seamless, efficient, and reliable accounting support.

We offer maximum flexibility. Our services do not require a minimum commitment period or any form of 'tie-in.' Clients are charged a consistent monthly fee, granting them the freedom to utilise our business accounting services without any mandated time-bound commitments.

It's crucial to accurately report your income to avoid penalties from HM Revenue. This underscores the importance of selecting a reliable accounting firm. At The Digital Accountant, we specialise in delivering high-quality services, making us an ideal partner for new businesses and freelancers. Our expertise ensures your finances are managed effectively, safeguarding you from potential fiscal missteps.

What are the accounting services that you offer?

Is there a minimum contract period?

What happens if I don’t declare all my income?

Am I entitled to a refund for previous months if I leave mid-way through the year?

Should you choose to discontinue our services at The Digital Accountant before reaching your company's year-end, please note that refunds for the months we have provided advice and representation are not available. This policy applies even if the termination occurs part-way through the year. Additionally, we do not offer refunds for any completed and delivered work. Our commitment is to ensure consistent, high-quality service throughout your engagement with us.

What happens if I sign up for your business accounting service part-way through the financial year?

If you commence your partnership with The Digital Accountant mid-way through your financial year, our team may need to initially focus on updating your bookkeeping and accounts. For instance, if your financial year starts in April and you join us in July, the initial fee will cover the period from April to July, calculated as 4 times the standard monthly rate. However, we offer flexibility — this 'catch-up' fee can be spread over the first three months of your contract for ease.

After your accounts are current, you'll only be billed a fixed monthly fee for ongoing support. To facilitate the completion of your year-end accounts and tax returns with us, we simply require that you have been a client for a year or have made 12 monthly payments.

Will I get a dedicated accountant?

Certainly! When you opt for our business accountancy services at The Digital Accountant, you will be assigned a dedicated accountant and tax advisor. This professional will consistently manage your accounts and tax affairs, ensuring continuity and familiarity with your financial situation. They will also be readily available to address any queries you might have. Unlike many firms that distribute client work among several team members, we believe in the effectiveness of having a single, dedicated accountant for each client. This approach allows us to tailor our services more closely to the unique requirements of your business.

How much responsibility will you take on?

Absolutely everything! At The Digital Accountant, we handle all communications with HMRC for our clients, including the submission of all digital returns. Rest assured, any critical information we receive that's pertinent to your business will be promptly relayed to you. You can count on us to keep you informed and up-to-date.

Are my year-end accounts included in the monthly price?

Certainly. The fixed monthly fee comprehensively covers all your essential accounting needs, including year-end statutory requirements, tax returns, and monthly bookkeeping. Additionally, it encompasses management accounts, payroll, VAT, and any other services you've chosen in your instant quote. The specifics of these services will be detailed in the terms and conditions provided to you upon your company's enrolment with The Digital Accountant.

What are the details you’ll need from me?

Upon initiating a partnership with The Digital Accountant, our team of chartered accountants will need you to provide the following information:

  • Your complete name along with a valid form of identification (this can be your driver's license or passport).

  • Date of birth.

  • Your current residential address and a document confirming your residence there.

  • Contact details, including your mobile and/or home phone number.

  • Your National Insurance (NI) number.

  • The name and registration number of your company.

  • Your Unique Tax Reference (UTR) number.

  • VAT registration number if applicable.

  • Copies of your most recent tax return.

Some of these details may not apply to you, and that’s fine. We will let you know what we need when we contact you.

Is it challenging to switch accountants?

Certainly not. Should you decide to transition from a previous accountant to The Digital Accountant, we will seamlessly manage the entire process on your behalf. Typically, this includes reaching out to your former accountants to facilitate the digital transfer of your documents to our system. Following this, we will provide you with an engagement letter. Your role will simply be to review and confirm your agreement, allowing us to represent you in designated areas of your financial affairs.
